Simbiat Lawal launches Cloudnine Digital International to drive Africa’s digital supply chain transformation

Nigerian entrepreneur Simbiat Atinuke Lawal has officially launched Cloudnine Digital International Limited, a new technology venture aimed at reshaping how businesses across Africa manage procurement and supply chain operations.
The company, incorporated in June 2023, positions itself as a bridge between traditional procurement practices and the demands of modern, data-driven economies. Speaking at the launch, Lawal described Cloudnine as “a platform built for transparency, efficiency, and resilience in Africa’s supply chains.”

Cloudnine Digital International is rolling out digital tools that integrate artificial intelligence, Internet of Things monitoring, and fraud detection models to address long-standing challenges of waste, delays, and procurement leakages. In its first stage, the company is developing AI-powered procurement planners designed to help small and medium-sized businesses predict demand and manage inventory more efficiently.

Lawal explained that her decision to establish Cloudnine was shaped by years of professional experience in technology and business development, where she witnessed how inefficiencies in supply chains directly harmed growth. “Nigeria and Africa lose too much to outdated procurement systems. Cloudnine is about changing that narrative by providing solutions that are locally relevant but globally competitive,” she said.

Industry observers see the launch as timely, particularly as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) gains momentum. Analysts note that companies like Cloudnine can provide the digital infrastructure necessary to enable smoother cross-border trade, enhance investor confidence, and create stronger networks of trust among African businesses.

Though only newly established, Cloudnine Digital International has already begun consultations with partners in Nigeria and Ghana to pilot its early tools. If successful, these initiatives could lay the foundation for what may become one of Africa’s most significant digital supply chain platforms.
