The Nigerian telecom sector is in dire straits, according to MTN Nigeria CEO, Karl Toriola.

Speaking at a telecom investment forum on Tuesday, Toriola likened the industry to a patient in intensive care, noting the urgent need for intervention to prevent its collapse.

His assessment stands in contrast to the optimistic outlook expressed by Airtel Nigeria CEO, Carl Cruz.

Toriola stressed the necessity of price increases for telecom services, citing escalating operational costs.

The telecom giant’s warning comes amidst growing concerns about the sector’s health.
