Terrorists abduct two FUDMA lecturers, one other

Suspected terrorists have abducted two lecturers of the Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA), Katsina State, and one other person early Monday morning.

According to reports, those abducted include Prof Richard Kyaram and his son, simply identified as Solomon, and another lecturer, one Dr Hamza.

It is, however, not known as at time of report which departments they were lecturing at.

The victims were living at the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Dutsinma council, when they were abducted.

Sources said that the terrorists stormed the GRA in huge numbers and were fully armed.

They said that the terrorists went from house to house carrying out their nefarious activities, including seizing phones, money and other valuables from residents.

“The victims were later forced from their homes and moved away to an unknown destination,” one of the sources said.

It is not clear if the terrorists also abducted other residents, and if there had been phone calls from them demanding for ransom payments.

In early October last year, terrorists had abducted five female students of the institution from their lodge located behind the institution.

At least four of the female students spent 50 days in captivity, with ransom, said to be in the hundreds of millions of naira, reportedly paid before their release.

Spokesperson for the police as well as that of the institution, ASP Abubakar Aliyu and Habibu Umar respectively, did not immediately respond to inquiry on the issue.
