Terrorists attack military camp, kill six soldiers, injure 11, abduct woman


Security operatives rescue 17 abducted male passengers in Katsina

Five Nigerian soldiers have been killed and 11 others injured by terrorists who attacked a military camp in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Also, terrorists killed another soldier and abducted his stepmother in Zangon Kataf Local Council of Kaduna State. Bandits also killed a 28-year-old man and attacked three boys in Plateau State.


However, a combined team of security operatives in Katsina rescued 17 passengers recently abducted by terrorists. Member of a vigilante group, Aliyu Tukur, 30, was also killed in the Katsina attack, according to a military internal memo.

“Terrorists attack on military camp causing grievous hurt and death of military personnel,” the memo stated.The incident reportedly occurred about 2.00 p.m. on Sunday when over 200 terrorists with sophisticated weapons, led by Ado Aleiru, attacked the military camp at Yar Malamai village.

It reads: “The battle lasted for over two hours after intervention from the Air Force. Sadly, five soldiers and one vigilante, Aliyu Tukur, lost their lives.

“Eleven soldiers sustained gunshot injuries. The bandits also suffered heavy casualties. Residents of the area are migrating.”After killing the soldier, who was identified as Yahaya Ayuba (Zabuyia), at Anguwan Rimi village in Zango Kataf, the bandits abducted his stepmother.

A family member, Kantiok Solomon, confirmed the incident to journalists yesterday. According to him, the soldier arrived from Lagos on Sunday evening, and the gunmen entered the house while he (the soldier) was discussing with his family members.

He was reportedly shot with an AK-47 rifle while he was challenging the gunmen, who were trying to kidnap his stepmother. Kaduna Police Command has not reacted to the unfortunate incident, at press time, as telephone calls put across to the police spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan, were not responded to.

THE Plateau attack was reportedly carried out by suspected Fulani militia along Ratsat Rung Road. Three boys, who were residents of Ratsat Rung Foron District, survived that attack, according to the Vice Chairman of Berom Education and Cultural Organisation (BECO) in Foron District, Barnabas Zih.

Security personnel in the area confirmed the incident to The Guardian.

SPOKESPERSON to the Katsina Governor, Ibrahim Mohammed, said the incident occurred, on Saturday, in Batsari Local Council. Mohammed, who said the information was obtained from a military source, disclosed that the security operatives engaged the terrorists in a gunfire exchange before the 17 persons were rescued.

“A prompt response by a combined security force resulted in the successful rescue of 17 abducted male passengers from the clutch of violent extremists in the Solar General Area of Batsari.

“All the abducted passengers were successfully rescued and have been released to the officials of Batsari council,” the military source revealed.
