• Senate urges military to block terrorists’ escape routes
Terrorists have killed a young man, Aliyu Bala, and kidnapped a female employee of Memorial Hospital, Sabon Barki, Gindiri, Mangu Local Council of Plateau State, identified as Mrs. Mujil.
Bala was killed yesterday at Kwanan Shagari in Jos North Local Council by the notorious Sara Suka cult.
This came barely 24 hours after the kidnap of 70-year-old Hajara Karimal at a village close to College of Education, Gindiri.
Spokesman of Gindiri town of Pyan chiefdom, Isa Kwarsha, disclosed this to The Guardian, yesterday. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Plateau, ASP Ubah Ogaba, told The Guardian that the command was going to investigate the issue and bring perpetrators to justice
THE Kwara State police command, yesterday, disclosed its readiness to prevent the notorious fleeing terrorists leader from Zamfara State, Bello Turji, from entering the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Tuesday Assayomo, while briefing the press on the rumoured hibernation of Turji in an undisclosed Kwara forest, said the police, military and paramilitary agencies would smoke the bandit out of his hideout “if he is already inside” and prevent him from entering, “if he is still outside.”
ALSO, the Senate has asked the military and other security agencies in the country to closely monitor and block the escape routes used by bandits and fleeing terrorists, to forestall their relocation to other parts of the country.
The red chamber urged the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide food and other livelihood support amenities to affected villages and the internally-displaced in Mariga, Mashegu, Kontagora and Borgu local councils in Niger North Senatorial District.
MEANWHILE, former member of the House of Representatives, Shu’aib Galadima, has said that only genuine dialogue will end farmers/herders’ clashes in Nigeria.
The Chairman of Yamaltu Deba Local Council in Gombe State told newsmen in his office, yesterday, that he employed dialogue and steady campaign to quell farmers/herders’ face-off in his area.
He enjoined other councils and to embrace the method rather than outright counter-attacks that could only lead to tension.
