The Fresh Look Educational Empowerment Foundation set to host Summit

In response to the alarming rise in teacher burnout over the past few decades, The Fresh Look Educational Empowerment Foundation is taking a proactive stance with the announcement of The Fresh Look Africa (TFLA) Summit.

Billed to take place on the 27th of January, 2024, themed “The Rested Teacher, Nurturing Holistic Wellness”, this initiative seeks to address the causative factors contributing to teacher shortages and the increasing number of teachers leaving the profession.

It is also set to tackle some of the major challenges and demands of the teaching profession.

Since the 1980s, the education landscape has witnessed a concerning surge in teacher burnout, resulting in a detrimental impact on the education system. The cumulative effect has led to a shortage of teachers, with many dedicated professionals choosing to leave the profession due to a myriad of challenges.

Teachers have consistently voiced concerns about insufficient support, low pay rates, excessive workloads, and a general lack of focus on their well-being.

The Fresh Look Educational Empowerment Foundation, recognises the pivotal role teachers play in shaping the future.

The TFLA Summit 2024 emerges as a response to this critical issue, introducing a paradigm shift in the narrative surrounding education.

According to the CEO and Founder of the Fresh Look Educational Empowerment Foundation, Mrs. Adora Igunma-Ogunyomi, who has nearly a decade of experience in the educational sector, with multiple significant contributions made towards the field, her passion for educating minds and facilitating engaging learning processes led her to establish the Foundation which has been aimed at bridging the gaps in the African Educational Sector.

For her, the upcoming summit will redefine the educational landscape across the continent: “The TFLA Summit is designed to benefit educators by providing valuable insights and strategies for managing stress and enhancing holistic wellness. Ultimately, students, parents, school administrators, policymakers, and community stakeholders will experience the ripple effect of a more engaged and fulfilled teaching workforce, contributing to a positive and supportive educational ecosystem.”

She recognised that huge strides have been taken to improve the educational standards across the continent, however a lot remained to be done. “My perception of education in Africa is that it is on a trajectory of growth, marked by notable improvements. While strides have been made, there is a recognition that there is still a considerable distance to cover in building sustainable systems and structures that ensure universal access to quality education.”

“The challenges are diverse, ranging from infrastructure gaps to socioeconomic disparities. Investing in robust educational frameworks, equitable access, and innovative approaches will be crucial to unlocking the full potential of education in Africa and fostering inclusive development across the continent.” she added.

The Summit will also feature an esteemed range of speakers including CEO and Founder of Inspiring Change NG, Mrs. Sumbo Adeoye, Founder of the Multiwoman Network, Mary Ogundimu, Founder of the Teacher Chike Educational Foundation, Teacher Chike, Top Developmental Consultant, Tunmise Phebe, Renowned Educational Psychologist, Opeyemi Ogunyomi, Popular Fitness Consultant, Buchi Fitness and the CEO of Amon Gem Company, Ayodeji Michael Omi.
