The transformed life – Part 5

Ejikeme Ejim

Key Verse: 1 John 2:15, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” (KJV)

The world system is filled with immorality, lies, crookedness, deceit, witchcraft, lust of the eyes, wickedness, abominable spirit, lust of the flesh and sorcery. All these things are not of God, but of this world system. Friendship with the world is enmity with God. The world system has their ways, traditions, customs, fashions and dressing styles. The women of the world expose their breasts and buttocks to onlookers, yet they claim to be wearing clothes. The people of the world have their hair styles; they have their own way of getting married; they have their own television and radio programmes; they know what they are looking for in YouTube; they know what they are looking for on Facebook; they know the books they like to read; they have their places of amusement; they know how they do their friendship and they know how to relate with God, if at all, some of them say that God does not exist.

The world system is under the control of the Devil. The Devil is called the prince of this world (John 14:30). The people of the world love the world and the things that are in the world. You cannot love the world and love God, no you cannot. If you love the world, the love of God is not in you. You cannot serve two masters at a time; you have to choose whom to serve. Joshua said to the people of Israelites, “Choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served in the region beyond the river, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord,” (Joshua 24:15). Any child of God living the transformed life cannot be conformed to the world system. Jesus said in John 14:30, that the prince of this world has no hold over Him. The Bible said that anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world is an enemy of God (James 4:4).

The people of the world have their own style of politics. They go to shrine and do all kinds of sacrifices to demons to win a political office. Sometimes your votes do not count and while you are still standing on queue waiting to vote, they will announce the result of the election, claiming they have won and then, come to church for the thanksgiving of their victory. The candidate may have sacrificed a human being who knows? He could have sacrificed his wife, his son, daughter or anything, who knows? But he will come to church on Thanksgiving Day and dance before God and God will be looking at him.

As we are called the children of God, we are to live the transformed life and make Jesus visible in every aspect of our lives. People should see Christ when they interact with us. Our thoughts, attitudes, actions, words and relationships should reflect that Christ is incarnated in us. When we are transformed into Christ’s likeness, it is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives in us (Galatians 2:20). So, our minds think His thoughts, our will becomes His will, our mouths speak His words, our hearts beat in rhythm with His, our hands perform His instructions, our feet goes where He directs and Christ becomes visible in our lives.
