Three herdsmen nabbed for allegedly killing pastor in Ogbomosho

Killers of cleric won’t go unpunished, says Soun
Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of a pastor in Ogbomosho, Oyo State.

The pastor, identified as Evangelist Adegboyega, was allegedly killed on Monday by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

He was killed in the Gege area, along Ogbomosho-Iseyin road, when he challenged the herdsmen who invaded his farm with their cattle.

Three suspects were arrested by the villagers and were immediately taken to the palace of the Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye.

They were subsequently handed over to the police for investigation.

Meanwhile, Olaoye has assured residents of the ancient city that the people responsible for the killing will not go unpunished.

The monarch, while addressing the residents, told the family of the clergyman that he would ensure justice is done.

He said: “I wish to say this is an ugly situation and it’s uncalled for. I have spoken my mind to the Area Commander (of Owode police headquarters), who is here with me and I want to assure you that justice will be served. I equally sympathise with every one of you. May God continue to watch over you and the entire land of Ogbomosho.”

The remains of the deceased have been deposited in a mortuary.
