Three people were yesterday, injured when a truck driver in a bid to beat a traffic light, lost control and rammed into two other vehicles, at Maryland Roundabout, Ikeja, Lagos.

Apart from the truck, two cars – a Toyota Camry (big daddy), and a Lexus jeep RX350, were involved in the crash.

The Guardian gathered that two street traders and an occupant of the Toyota Camry car were injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment by volunteers, before the arrival of the Lagos State Ambulance.

Police officers, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials and Lagos State Fire Service, who were on the scene of the incident, said the crash was caused by impatience on the part of the truck driver.

One of the officers said: “The probable cause of the crash was impatience on the part of the truck driver. The truck driver was trying to beat the traffic light and in the process, developed a brake failure and rammed into the two vehicles.”
