Tiamiyu Kosoko emerges new Oloja of Lagos

After three years of protracted misunderstanding that left the Oloja of Lagos stool vacant, Prince Tiamiyu Abiola Olojo Kosoko, yesterday emerged as the monarch-elect.

Kosoko, who hails from the Olojo family, was ratified by the kingmakers, defeating three other contestants: Prince Issa Adeyemi Aregbeshola, Prince Ismail Adedayo Kosoko, and Prince Dotun Olaluwoye.


Since the late Oloja of Lagos, Chief Adebola Ige, joined his ancestors on December 23, 2017, there have been various factions and strife within the family, putting members in disarray.

This led to the creation of a reconciliation committee headed by renowned actor, Prince Jide Kosoko, which led to the emergence Prince Kosoko.

During yesterday’s general meeting held at the palace in Ereko, Lagos, the head of the royal family, Alhaja Mutiat Abimbola Ashabi Alli-Balogun, who presented the new monarch, said his nomination followed due process and was ratified by the kingmakers.

In his acceptance speech, the new monarch said his emergence would bring the needed transformation to develop his domain. He promised to create the needed platforms and channels to engage youths positively to bring the desired change the country is agitating for.
