Tinubu congratulates Kano governor on 61st birthday

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on his 61st birthday.

In a statement today by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), President Tinubu recognized the steadfastness implicit in the political trajectory of Governor Yusuf, rising through the political rung from personal assistant to commissioner and now governor.

The President wished the Governor success in the discharge of his duties and also prayed that the Almighty grant the Governor many more years in good health and strength.

Meanwhile, NNPP supporters in Dawakin Tofa have organised a special prayer and peaceful demonstration, seeking divine intervention ahead of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the March 18, 2023, gubernatorial election in Kano.

Dawakin Tofa, the ancestral homeland of the former Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has chosen to forsake him and instead embrace Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The demonstrators, predominantly women, declared unwavering support for Governor Yusuf and offered prayers and supplications for his ultimate triumph at the Supreme Court.

Gathering in their thousands from various villages in Dawakin Tofa, they convened at the Bandirawo and Dawanau central mosque, beseeching divine intervention in Governor Yusuf’s case.

In harmonious tones, they advocated for justice as the Supreme Court reserved judgment on the Kano gubernatorial election.

Addressing the gathering, the leader of the group, Idris Tela Dandalama, expressed their intent to conduct special prayers in solidarity with Governor Yusuf during the ongoing legal battle at the Supreme Court.

“We are here to beseech Almighty Allah to uphold our mandate.

The Supreme Court represents the last hope of the common man, and we remain optimistic that the outcome will be favorable and in our favor,” he stated.

He expressed satisfaction that within the short span of his leadership, Governor Yusuf has exhibited a remarkable capacity to elevate the state to greater heights.

“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has successfully settled the arrears of pensions and gratuities for our retired husbands.

He has facilitated the marriages of our daughters, ensured the timely payment of our salaries, empowered People Living with Disabilities, and sponsored our children to pursue master’s degrees in various universities worldwide.

“In addition to the accomplishments achieved, we have assembled here to pray for peace in Kano state, recognizing the signs of peril, the tense situation, and the increasingly volatile political atmosphere.
