Tinubu directs cement companies to revert to earlier price

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed companies producing to revert to the earlier price.


Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, disclosed this to journalists on Thursday after inspecting BUA cement factory in Sokoto.

The past weeks have seen the price of cement skyrocket to as high as over N10,000.

Our correspondent gathered that sellers blamed the depreciation of the naira at the foreign exchange market for the hike in cement prices.


But in a meeting with cement manufacturers, Umahi urged them to abide abide by the directive of the President so that the massive housing programme and the renewed hope agenda of concrete roads of by the President can be achieved.

Meanwhile the Minister revealed that the federal government was embarking on 372 kilometers of road, dual carriage way from Zaria to Sokoto State.

“I am here to see things for myself, as you are aware, the federal government is currently embarking on 372 dual kilometers of road of which the first phase will be done with Asphalt, while the step down will be done with concrete,” Umahi said.

“If you calculate the 372 kilometers, because it is dual carriage way into two will give us total of 744 kilometers.”
