President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive that will facilitate the inclusion of National Open University (NOUN) graduates in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

Tinubu directed the Federal Ministry of Education to provide the necessary modalities for NOUN graduates who fall within the age bracket to serve as allowed by the law.

The president gave the charge during his address at the 13th convocation ceremony of the University on Saturday, April 13 at the institution’s convocation arena in Jabi, Abuja.

Deputy Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Biodun Saliu, represented Tinubu at the event.

“With the changing demographics of our great nation, the government has recognised the importance of allowing NOUN graduates to participate in the NYSC scheme,” Saliu said.

Saliu also stated that the longstanding issue regarding the admittance of NOUN law graduates to law schools in Nigeria has been resolved.

“The doors of the Law School are now open to the graduates, ensuring equal opportunities for all,” he added.

Saliu further said that any remaining concerns or uncertainties should be promptly addressed by the Federal Ministry of Education.
