Galadima hails President for neutrality
Governor Abba Yusuf has applauded the dexterity of President Bola Tinubu for safeguarding the fabric of democracy on the Kano State governorship election ruling at the Supreme Court.
In the same vein, NNPP chieftain, Buba Galadima, the country could have been on fire had the apex court sacked Yusuf last Friday; hence, he thanked Tinubu for not meddling in the affairs of the judiciary.
The Kano governor, who made the assertion Sunday night, while addressing a crowd that received him on arrival in Kano, revealed that despite huge pressure, the President refused to avert the will of the people.
Besides, the only New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) governor disclosed that the apex court verdict, which reversed his sack by the tribunal and Court of Appeal, equally redeemed the image of the judiciary.
Yusuf commended the Justices of the Supreme Court (JSCs) for taking the path of justice in their judgment, which eventually saved the state from “unforeseen circumstances.”
He said some persons were hell-bent on stealing the hard-earned mandate of Kano people in the guise of belonging to the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) as the President.
“We thank the justices for the judgment because if not for the fair judgment they delivered, we would not have known what would have happened. The verdict has redeemed their image.
“The persons were hell-bent on snatching or stealing our mandate and the reason was because they felt the President, his Vice and others were from APC. Unfortunately, the President refused to interfere,” he said.
According to him, with this action, Kano people have thanked the President for saving democracy in Kano.
He added: “I am overwhelmed by the mammoth crowd, who voluntarily trooped out en masse to receive us and journeyed for eight hours on the road to get to this venue.
“We will not let you down. Our doors are open. We will deliver on the dividends of democracy in the areas of education, health, empowerment among others.”
Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, has said the administration would end thuggery, drug abuse, phone snatching and better the lives of the citizenry.
The governor, who drove into Kano by road from Kaduna, spent about eight hours from Chiromawa, where he was received by an unprecedented crowd to get to Filin Mahaha in Kofar Na’isa, where he addressed the patiently waiting party supporters.
GALADIMA said on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, yesterday: “I am congratulating the President for not interfering with the judiciary because Nigeria could have been on fire by now if what happened on Friday did not happen.
“I congratulate him (Tinubu) for having the strength of character, and you can see that peace has pervaded the whole of Nigeria and our rating in the eyes of the world has come out.”
