Nigerian-born singer, Atipioko Confidence Nicholas, professionally known as Toba has announced his debut into the Nigerian music scene with his first-ever release titled ‘Ikebe’, released April 16, 2024.
A native of Delta state, born and raised in Lagos state, Toba’s roots in music can be traced from his early days singing in church, school and several occasions.
According to the talented singer, “Ikebe is a song about the adulation of my lover’s enchanting physique and my unrelenting quest to know her better, which can be heard in the hook “Comment Ca Va, What is your name?” Ikebe is a melodic Afrobeats record that blends elements of Afro-Pop and R&B.”
His choice to go with such a catchy hook accompanied by the cool vibe throughout the song goes on to say a lot about the promise that his talent holds.
The Lagos-based 25-year-old singer, songwriter and entertainer is determined to make an indelible mark in the Nigerian music landscape with not just this debut release of his but with more gems to come from where Ikebe came from.
Adding to his unique writing skills and amazing vocal quality Toba looks forward to adding more songs to his portfolio whilst showcasing his core musical values to the world representing his country and elevating the good name of Afrobeats.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the song, he said, “African women are so beautiful and this song is dedicated to them specially.”
