Finding love for so many people may be proving difficult but dating apps are providing a platform.


Dating apps are playing major roles in connecting people in this digital age beyond expectations, especially in Nigeria.

This is evident according to Google research of 2023, ranking Nigeria number one as the country who have searched for love using different dating apps.

Some of these apps, include Badoo, Bumble,Tinder, Hinge to mention but a few.

With over 100 dating apps, the top ten that Nigerians used have been listed below.

According to the Business of App, research of 2022, Tinder is the most used dating app for finding love.

Which Dating Apps Are Nigerians Using?

According to Similarweb, a site that ranks most used dating app in Nigeria, iHappydate is the most used dating app in Nigeria, in 2024.

This is accompanied with the likes of Tinder, 2Go, Badoo, Bingdum, where a lot of people are also meeting up.


However, most used dating apps are not the same as most downloaded.

For 2024 alone, and with over 4.4 million monthly downloads in February 2024.

Tinder is the most downloaded dating application in the world.

Released in April 2012, the American company introduced the swiping model.

People anonymously can indicate who they are interested in meeting and getting to know better.

Bumble and Litmatch ranked second and third, with over 3.2 million and close to 2.4 million monthly downloads respectively.

Security Concerns Using These Apps

While these dating apps offer a plethora of fun, it is also important to be security conscious of what you put online.

The Nigerian Police through its Public Relations Officer, (PRO) Ademuyiwa Adejobi, has warned about the increase in cyberbullying stemming from the usage of dating apps.

Ademuyiwa said; “ Nigerian Police urges Nigerians to exercise discretion in using dating apps, in a digital age where connections and relationships are often forged”

“Through digital platforms, we are increasing awareness of the importance of discretion and vigilance in our digital interactions”
