There is excitement for tourism operators as organizers of Miss Heritage Global pageant last week announced preparations to host the 9th edition of the event in Abuja.
The series of activities lined up for the pageant is expected to kick start on September 30 with a forum tagged ‘Entertainment Economic Summit 2021’.
Other activities slated for different venues within the Federal Capital Territory will run through October 10 and culminated in the coronation of Miss Heritage Global 2021Queen.
According to the organizers, the pageant with a hash tag, ‘Abuja to the World’ would be attracting about 60 participating countries and would be anchored by a popular Television personality and actress, Nancy Isime alongside other international stars that the organizers promised to unveil in the coming months.
Speaking at the event, the President, Entertainment Economic Summit Africa Group (EESA), Alhaji Musa Mantu, explained that the pageant, which aimed at promoting culture and tourism globally was initially scheduled to hold last year in Vietnam but couldn’t hold as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He described the hosting of the event in Abuja, Nigeria, as a tourism boost for the country.
He expressed that the influx of visitors into the country will revive the ailing tourism industry that was mostly affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
According to him, it was a great privilege for him to be associated with the Miss Heritage Global Brand, stressing.
Commending the organisers for choosing Nigeria for the event, he added: “We appreciate the Miss Heritage Global team for choosing Abuja, Nigeria, the economic hub of Africa as the destination for Miss Heritage Global 2021 despite all the pressure, lobbying and appeals from other nations of the world including Vietnam, Russia and so on.”
Adding: “In the company of 60 participating countries comprising Japan, France, Latvia, Argentina, United States and South Africa, as well as the galaxy of stars that would be coming to Nigeria, this 2021 edition of The Miss Heritage Global alongside The Entertainment Economic Summit Africa 2021 is a congress that would be compared to FESTAC 77”, he said.
Also at the event were the President, Miss Heritage Global, Nhlanhla Shabangu, Vice President, Leruo Shabangu, Chief Executive Officer, Miss Heritage Global; Charles Ndudim, Vice President, Entertainment Economic Summit Africa and Producer, Miss Heritage Global Abuja 2021; Nancy Isime as well as Co-Producer of the pageant, Chuks Okafor.
