The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has said that preparations are in top gear to host the 28th Conference of Parties (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Abu Dhabi next year.
A statement made available to newsmen, who were in UAE for the AfroZons Dubai Soundoff, at the weekend, disclosed that the country’s recently launched ‘Museum of the Future’ and other massive investments in its environment would see its visitors in an entirely new environment, as would be re-introduced to planet Earth, the future of healing, sustainability and bioengineering technology.
Also, top radio and television hosts in Africa, United Kingdom and the United States of America have said that music will strengthen the relationships among trio and boost their economy, if given the necessary support.
Chatting with journalists, yesterday, ahead of the Afrozons Soundoff in Dubai, they noted that “Africa is doing well in music,” but stressed the need for more collaborations to make Afrobeat music unite the world like football.
They urged African tourism ministries and creative arts departments to start investing heavily in artistes, adding a lot of talents were wasting due to lack of support system and training.
They described the Afrozons show as an outstanding event that would unite the world and stem the rising cases of suicide, noting that “good music softens the soul and reduces stress feelings.”
Ghanaian On Air Personality (OAP), Bola Ray, said, “Africans are doing a lot in music, but more needs to be done to push our music across borders. More collaboration is needed.
“Also, the African tourism ministries and the creative arts departments should start investing heavily in artistes, not just in music; there are a lot of talented artistes out there seeking exposure.”
Also, U.S.-based radio host,Bay Bay, said cultures could be promoted through the Afrobeat music and urged African artistes not to focus more on their challenges, as their colleagues in the U.S. were going through similar struggles.
MEANWHILE, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tonye Princewill, after touring the museum, with some African journalists, urged African leaders to emulate UAE in doing things differently to get different results.
The UNFCCC had, on November 11, 2021, announced that the UAE would host the 28th COP in 2023 where about 200 countries would gather to take concrete decisions against climate change.
With that in mind, UAE has prepared 77 metres Museum, a striking structure with an architectural marvel, built by robotic technology and with emphasis on sustainability. The pillar-less building, powered with 4,000 megawatts of solar energy, has seven unique and distinct floors.
For its visitors, the museum comprises an unparalleled window to experience the future in all its aspects and dimensions. According to one of the tour guides, Kadijat Eliabtic, the museum is a peep into what life will look like in 2071.
