UNAIDS recognises Sanwo-Olu for moving to end AIDS

United Nations Joint Team on AIDS (UNAIDS), yesterday, presented an award to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in recognition of his outstanding leadership to end Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome
AIDS in Lagos State.


The governor, who received the award during a courtesy visit by a team, led by UNAIDS Country Director and Representative for Nigeria, Leopold Zekeng, at Lagos House, Marina, promised that the state would sustain aan integrated action plan that provides resources for response, advocacy, communication and information on the disease.

He pledged his administration’s commitment to reducing mother to child transmission and ensuring robust engagement with the private sector for provision of test kits for residents in all its primary and secondary healthcare initiatives.

Earlier, Ze Mudashiru Obasakeng congratulated the governor on his re-election, expressing readiness to work with state government and the country for a better health system.

He urged Sanwo-Olu to ensure that the services are incorporated into the state’s health insurance scheme.
