Nigerian leaders at all levels of government and administration have been called upon to unite all citizens, if the nation must achieve meaningful and sustainable growth.

New President of Ikeja Club, Musediq Adebayo Adeleke, made the call, during his investiture held on the club’s premises on Obafemi Awolowo Way in Ikeja, over the weekend,

He said just as Nigeria and states need unity to achieve their goals and aspirations, so also Ikeja Club, which is a congregation of Nigerians from different parts of the country need unity to record progress.

He advised governments and the oppositions at federal and state levels to always carry on their roles with the understanding that they are working towards one goal, which is to put the federation and the states on the part of peace, progress and development, just as he reminded members of the Ikeja Club that the centre was set up with lofty objectives, which, he said, would not be achieved if the club is not united.

Charging members to embrace unity, he said: “We have been elected to lead our dear club and manage its affairs; there is, therefore, urgent need to immediately embark on the very task ahead, as the period of celebration, fanfare and felicitation should be over after this event.”

He described the task ahead as enormous, but said: “With my fellow members of new management council, it is achievable by our collective efforts and dedicated team work.”

In his remarks, the Vice President of the club, Abayomi Akin Omoyinmi, said clubs, such as Ikeja Club, are crucial because they not only provide recreational opportunities needed by the society, they also serve as an avenue to advance business interests by offering networking opportunities among members.
