Unknown gunmen kill Okada man in Ekiti

A middle-aged man, identified as Samuel Omoyajowo, was allegedly shot dead by unknown gunmen around Okesa Roundabout near the Ekiti State Governor’s office in Ado Ekiti.

The man, who was one of those issuing tickets to commercial motorcyclists around Okesa Roundabout, was reportedly gunned down by unknown armed men who drove to the scene on another motorcycle.

An eyewitness said that the killers fled immediately after killing their victim, leaving him in a pool of his own blood.

Reacting to the development when contacted, the chairman of the Okada Riders Association, Ekiti State, Mr Kunle Asaolu, confirmed that the man was indeed one of their members.

Asaolu in his reaction condemned the gruesome murder of the okada rider, describing the act as callous and barbaric.

He urged the police to make sure that the assailants were fished out and be brought to justice.

The spokesperson for the Ekiti State Police Command, DSP Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident, said an investigation has commenced.

Abutu added that the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital morgue.
