Uzodimma denies attack on convoy

Hope Uzodimma

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has dismissed, as false, reports on some media platforms that his convoy was attacked at the weekend, around Ngor Okpala, leaving some of his security men killed and others injured.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser, Oguwike Nwachukwu, the governor described such reports as “satanic fabrication by sworn enemies,” attributing the purveyors to political losers.

The governor disclosed that he was in his office at the Government House, Owerri, on Saturday, discharging official duties and was not attacked.

The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a fabrication by sworn enemies of Imo State and its performing governor, claiming that his convoy was attacked on Saturday by gunmen, along Ngor Okpala-Aba Road.

“Those behind the falsehood also claimed that seven persons, believed to be security aides on the said convoy, died in the process, and that five aides to the governor sustained different injuries.

“The author of the wicked fabrication further claimed to have spoken to one of the security operatives on condition of anonymity.

“For the avoidance of doubt, no such thing happened. Rather, what is at play is nothing but orchestrated falsehood, arising from extreme hallucination due to alliance and communication with the devil by the author.

“Uzodimma’s convoy did not move an inch on Saturday, because there was no need since the governor was busy in his office from morning till late in the evening, attending to state matters.

“We are aware that sore losers in Imo politics can never and have never wished the governor and his government well; hence, they have continually resorted to making up matters they know are pure lies to destabilise him.”

According to the governor, those who are spreading such falsehood are those who are not ready to accept his performance in more than three years.

The statement added: “The good news is that Uzodimma has remained undaunted in his determination to turn the fortunes of Imo around, and will continue to remain focused for as long as he will be in office as governor.”
