The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, Prof. Akeem Lasisi, has warned the newly-admitted students of the institution to shun all forms of vices, saying the school places a high premium on character.

Lasisi made the call during the second matriculation ceremony and investiture of Alhaji Ibrahim Al-Amin El-Kanemi, the Sheu of Dikwa, as the pioneer Chancellor of the university.

The university, which was established in 2021, matriculated 673 students for the 2023/2024 academic session. The matriculation, which took place at the University Ceremony Arena,  was attended by students, parents, members of the academia, leaders of religious organisations, people from all walks of life.

Lasisi said the university would continuously challenge the students to ensure they compete with their peers globally in the fields of research and healthcare delivery. He urged the matriculating students to be diligent in their studies to justify the labour of their parents.

The VC said: “I am addressing this convocation at a remarkable juncture, not only in the history of the university which was established in the year 2021 but also in the history of my administration which commenced with the Academic calendar in the year 2022.
