Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles and Napoli striker, is preparing for an emotional farewell from Napoli, hinting that his departure from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium could bring him to tears.

Osimhen has been a key player for the Italian side since joining from French club Lille in 2020, scoring over 70 goals and helping Napoli win their third Serie A title.

In a recent interview with Betsson Sport, Osimhen described the fans in Naples as “extraordinary” and expressed his deep admiration for the passion and enthusiasm they show for football. He noted that Napoli feels like his second home and that the support from the fans is truly remarkable. Osimhen remarked that the Neapolitans’ passion for their club is unlike anything he has seen in other clubs.

“Extraordinary. For me, it’s absolutely incredible. I’ve been in football for about seven years now and I say it in every interview when they ask me about Napoli fans. When I have to look for a word to describe them, I am speechless because they are electrifying, I have never seen anything like this that takes football so seriously the way fans support the team is truly unbelievable. I have played in other clubs, but the passion that the Neapolitans have for their club is out of this world,” Osimhen said.

Osimhen’s connection to the Napoli fans has given him a new understanding of why past legends like Marek Hamsik, Lorenzo Insigne, and Edinson Cavani were emotional when they left the club. He hinted that his own departure could be similarly emotional, as he has grown to appreciate the unique bond between the city and its football club.

“They are among the best fans in the world for how they support their team and how they live their everyday lives making sure the identity of this club is connected to them. Sometimes I understand why some legends of the past cried when they left Naples because it is an extraordinary emotion to play in the stadium and hear your name shouted from the first minute to the 90th, supporting the team and cheering,” the Super Eagles striker added.

Despite renewing his contract with Napoli in December, Osimhen has been linked with several top European clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain. With 15 goals in 28 games and eight assists this season, his contributions on the field have made him one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.

Osimhen’s remarks reflect the deep connection he has with the Napoli fans and the profound impact they have had on his career. If he leaves the club, it will undoubtedly be an emotional moment for both him and the supporters who have cheered him on throughout his time in Naples.
