Nigerian tennis will rule the tennis world if the Federal Government supports efforts to develop the sport at the grassroots, the Technical Director of Vision 2020 International Tennis Academy, Thompson Ewetuga, has said.

Speaking on the tennis development programme involving top tennis stakeholders, Ewetuga urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support the sport morally and financially to grow, saying one of the programmes would soon start at the National Stadium, Lagos.

Ewetuga said that talented U-12, U-14, and U-16 players discovered by the programme would be guided by seasoned coaches to stardom once President Tinubu buys into the Vision 2020 International Tennis Academy proposal forwarded to him through Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Ewetuga, who had earlier organised clinics in Lagos and Banjul, The Gambia, showered encomium on Gede Mahendra and Eka Pradnyana, as well as other stakeholders, for their support for Vision 2020 International Tennis Academy.

“We hope to enjoy the good will from tennis lovers, while praying that the Presidency throw its full weight on our dream to revolutionise Nigerian tennis through the forthcoming fiesta at National Stadium, Lagos,” Ewetuga said.
