Vitabiotic calls for precautionary measures against cholera outbreak

A UK vitamin company, Vitabiotic has called for the adoption of precautionary measures to tackle the spread of cholera outbreak in the country.

The firm made this call at the weekend in Lagos during a road walk exercise entitled ‘Walk 4 Life’.

The aim of the exercise is to encourage citizens to take their health seriously.

A medical representative for the company, Damian Collins underscored that exercise burns calories adding that cholera can be eradicated through proper personal hygiene.

“From research conducted, it has been discovered that such an outbreak can be traced to dirty hygiene, bad hygiene practices. So, personal hygiene is a startup to curb this outbreak. Healthy life starts with your nutrition. I encourage citizens to take their nutrition very seriously. Don’t eat junk food anyhow, simply because you just want to get the stomach filled, take your nutrition very seriously. And of course, as the case may be, add supplements because we know the food storage system we have in our nation depreciates in nutrient value,” he advised.

A Pharmacist, Okechukwu Okonkwo urged citizens to always get clean at all times.

The outbreak he said is disturbing and it’s a disease known for dirtness because it finds its way to food and water.

“The hand wash we did during the COVID should be a normal pattern of living. It shouldn’t be a case of when there is a particular disease, we manage it by washing our hands. And when it goes to start behaving anyhow. We should continue to show an attitude of cleanliness at all times and things like cholera will not be there,” Okonkwo said.

He encourages everyone to go into oral rehabilitation therapy and always get clean.

National Marketing Manager, Vitabiotic, Ngolube Paul lamented that the outbreak isn’t a joke, advised citizens to maintain a proper environmental and personal hygiene.

“When you come back home, make sure you wash your hands. When you buy stuff, anything to cook, any fruits and vegetables, make sure you wash them properly even with salt before you take them,” he advised.
