VON, Radio France to renew collaboration ties

The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Jibrin Baba Ndace and the Director cum Chief Executive Officer, Radio France International, Jean-Marc Four, have said that both organisations are willing to renew ties of collaboration.


They said this when Four paid a visit to the DG of VON in Lagos.
Ndace noted that both organisations have some collaborations in the past that a product of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which VON under him is willing to reopen for the benefits of both media platforms.

He maintained that if established media collaborate and partner on a number fronts, it will greatly help to check fake news.

He was optimistic that with established media working together and sharing content, it would help to diminish the power and influence of those disseminating fake news, especially on social media.

Ndace said that he was ready to renew, update and build on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between VON and RFI some years back by one of his predecessors for mutual benefits of both organisations.


The DG stated that VON at present broadcast in eight languages but hoping to add two more international languages.

On his part, the CEO RFI also re-echoed the importance of collaboration among big media houses in checking fake news.

According to him, RFI has made some investments in checking fake news which it is ready to share with any media house to fight fake news.

He said he and his team were happy to visit VON because of partnership and the role VON played in helping to kick start its Hausa service in Nigeria.

He noted that the support provided by VON played a key role in its formation and foothold in Africa, especially its Hausa service.
