We didn’t approve N6b for Ramadan feeding, Kano govt replies APC

Kano State Government has denied budgeting N6 billion for the controversial Ramadan Feeding Programme.

Governor Abba Yusuf explained this on his verified X handle, yesterday, to counter the claim of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) that the governor was squandering the humongous amount on Ramadan feeding.

The Commissioner for Information, Baba Dantiye, said the government set aside N6 billion, with a target of reaching four million people in the 2024 Ramadan feeding programme across the 44 local councils of the state.

On Saturday, APC had asked the state government to come out clean on the N6 billion set aside for Ramadan feeding, the quality of which the governor himself described as nonsense.

Yusuf posted: “Over the past few days, I have observed heightened media speculations about our government purportedly budgeting N6 billion for the Ramadan feeding programme. I wish to categorically state that the actual amount for the programme is N1,197,700,000 for the whole month.

“I also counsel the media to ensure that they get their figures regarding our projects from the proper sources without giving credence to speculative figures.”
