Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, said that the state government had built more schools in the last five years than 10 years backwards.

He also promised that the state government would build a medical university to cater for the needs of medical emergencies in the state. Sanwo-Olu, who stated this during the third Lagos State Employment Summit organised by Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), said the challenge is the growing youth population, which would be addressed by the state government.

According to him, people trooped into the state in thousands and the state government needs to prepare schools, hospitals and other social amenities for the growing numbers.

He said: “We have cleared all liability for pensioners in Lagos. Part of the responsibility as a government is to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

“We have a population that is growing beyond the limits of the state, hence the need to build more schools.” The governor also launched the Labour Management Information System (LMIS), a platform where business owners will meet employable persons with skills needed as well as a tool for employees to search for matchable jobs with diverse skills.

In her remarks, Acting Executive Secretary, LSETF, Feyisayo Alayande, said the phenomenal achievements of the Fund within just eight years had made it a model across the country.
