For many who watched the night of tributes for the late Herbert Wigwe held at the Eko Hotels and Towers during the week, it was a night full of emotions. But one that truly stands out among the expression of emotions was by Aliko Dangote, who not only described Wigwe in flowery words but betrayed emotions when he cried intermittently as he delivered his tribute.

Even the consolation by late Wigwe’s right hand man, AigbojeAig-Imoukhuede, who had to go to the podium to path Dangote on the back did not help much.

It was a night of the rich can also cry, as Africa’s richest man not only immortalised someone he has come to accept as his family though the relationship started out as mentor-mentee one.

At the Nite of tributes titled “Celebrating Herbert Wigwe- A Professional Legacy” organised by Access Bank, captains of industries, colleagues and friends gathered to celebrate the professional legacy of Wigwe who died in chopper along with his wife, a son and a business partner.

Some of the other speakers at the event included Lagos State Governor,BabajideSanwo-Olu; Ogun State Governor,Dapo Abiodun; Finance Minister, Wale Edun; Access Bank GMD, Roosevelt Ogbonna; Herbert’s high school mate-Henrietta Ugbo, CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso; former Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dakwambo, Herbert’s professional colleague Cathy Echeozo; Group CEO GT Holdings Segun Agbaje and Wigwe’s business partner,AigbojeAig-Imokuede.
