Music executive, Otunba Olumide Enilolobo has said that the acceptance Afrobeats is getting globally will stand the test of time.
Enilolobo, otherwise referred to as Otb Plug explained that the genre which originated from Nigeria will enjoy more recognition as time goes on.
He argued that the nature of the genre will make it very difficult to be forgotten.
Otb plug further noted that while the genre has vast potential, it can be approached from several angles and easily mixed with other genres.
“Afrobeats cannot fade, this is a genre that can be mixed with other genres and you will get a another superb outcome,” said Enilolobo.
“Apart from that, you need to understand the power that the genre carries, it is more than just a genre but a lifestyle of people. You can feel that Africanist culture in Afrobeats. I’m glad the world had accepted it”.
He further urged Nigerian artistes to keep the spirit up stating that more artistes will clinch the Grammy award.
“If we keep this momentum more Nigerian artistes will win the Grammy. They already recognize the sound and it’s ruling their airwaves so the only thing that matters now is consistency. Once we are consistent then everything will fall in place.”
