Nigerian musician Tems has revealed why she can’t date fellow musician Asake, stating their connection is not a romantic one.
Tems revealed this during a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM. The Grammy-winning artist shared insights into her feelings toward fellow musician Asake.
Despite acknowledging Asake as one of her current favorite artists during a previous interview at the Time 100 Gala in New York, Tems clarified that her admiration for him is strictly professional and lacks any romantic inclination.
When asked about her interest in directing, specifically for other artists, the conversation turned to Asake.
Tems expressed her desire to direct a video for Asake, citing his artistic and out-of-the-box thinking. In her words she said; “I would want to direct a video for Asake because he’s very artsy and he thinks outside the box.”
However, the interviewer sought clarification, asking if her interest in Asake was purely work-related.
Tems affirmed, stating, “Just to direct the videos. As in, what do you mean?” The interviewer playfully suggested a romantic interest, to which Tems responded with a clear denial, stating that Asake is “all yours” and emphasizing that her feelings for him are not romantic.
In essence, Tems emphasized her professional admiration for Asake’s artistic talents while dispelling any notions of a romantic connection, reinforcing that her focus is on her own life and ventures.
