Woman attacks husband’s suspected mistress with hot water in Ondo

A 39-year-old food vendor, Esther Godwin, has been arrested by Ondo State Police Command for allegedly attacking and pouring hot water on her husband’s mistress, Endurance Samuel, in Idanre Local Council of the state.

The Guardian gathered that the jealous wife had frowned at her husband’s act of engaging in extramarital affairs with Endurance, who is nursing a one-month-old baby.
The suspect had allegedly called the victim on phone at about 10:00 a.m. on the fateful day to collect palm oil her husband, Sunday Godwin, was owing her. On getting to her shop, the suspect allegedly confronted the victim for having an affair with her husband, which Samuel denied.

Not satisfied with the victim’s response, Godwin allegedly poured hot water on the nursing mother. Samuel was immediately rushed to a health centre in the town, but was later referred to the General Hospital at Alade Idanre, where she is currently receiving treatment.

The victim denied having any affair with the suspect’s husband, saying all she did was follow him to the farm to work as a labourer. She said: “Esther called me from where I was learning tailoring to come and collect the palm oil her husband is owing me because I also work as a labourer for some farmers in town.

“I rushed out excitedly to the place, not knowing that the call was just to lure me to her own shop where she was selling food, to pour hot water on me for the offence I did not commit.”

The suspect’s husband, Godwin, also denied having any affair with Samuel, saying he only employed her as a labourer on his farm.
