*Renews partnership with NEMA on rapid food security trainings

United Nations food intervention agency, World Food Programme, (WFP), has renewed its commitment with the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), to offer raid good security inventions training and to assist vulnerable Nigeria that were affected by man-made disaster in Cameroon who are taking refuge there..

Leader oof the delegation and Country Director, WFP Nigeria, Mr David Stevenson accompanied by his counterpart from Cameroon, Wanjan Kaaria pointed that the agency is targeting the vulnerable to save lives.

He said “I consider my job in Nigeria a very big business because we are investing in Nigeria, purchasing food locally, putting cash into the economy and saving lives primarily by helping the government with this priority but also looking for solutions.

“So one of the things we are doing now is preparing for the food systems summit in Rome which is going to be led by a high level Nigerian government.”

Director General, NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed noted that the WFP also part of a tripartite meetings held in Marwa in Far North Eastern Region of Nigeria from 2017 to 2022, to assist Nigerian refugees from North Eastern states that were camped in Minawao IDPs camp.

He said the “WFP partnership has contributed meaningfully in the feeding of the IDPs and other valuable assistance. Since last year WFP Nigeria have been training some NEMA and Ministry of Humanitarian affairs staff on shock response including cash policy transfer during emergencies..

“Presently NEMA is intervening in Bakinjaw in the Southwest region of Cameroon where Nigerians are taking refuge.”
