Your past haunting you, APC faction tells Oyetola

Governor Oyetola of Osun State
Gov inaugurates ex-minister, others as board members

All Progressives Congress (APC) faction in Osun State has told Governor Adegboyega Oyetola that his past is haunting him; hence he is alleging a plot to smear him and his government.

It, however, challenged the state government to substantiate the smear campaign allegation.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Ismail Omipidan, had alleged underground plots to tarnish the governor’s image through baseless reports.

But Biodun Agboola, the Publicity Secretary of the faction loyal to the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, stated, yesterday, that such allegation was unfounded, adding that Oyetola should be reminded of many campaigns of calumny he waged against his predecessor, Aregbesola, since 2018.

Agboola said Oyetola’s administration should rather check itself properly, claiming that it was being chased by its own shadow.

According to him, the governor was crying wolf where there was none, in his allegation of a smear campaign against him and his government.

He said it was amazing that a governor, who has spent the last three years maligning and setting up groups to blackmail his predecessor, was raising the alarm of the smear campaign.

“The case of The Osun Masterminds group is just the latest of such faceless individuals and members of the cabinet that have been assigned to attack and blackmail the former governor,” Agboola said.
MEANWHILE, Governor Oyetola, yesterday, swore in chairmen and members of non-statutory boards and parastatals.

Those inaugurated include former Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole (UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital); former Osun Deputy Speaker, Akintunde Adegboye (College of Science and Technology, Esa Oke); former governorship aspirant, Saka Layonu (Osun Polytechnic, Iree) and another former Deputy Speaker, Taiwo Sunmonu (Teaching Service Board).

According to Oyetola, the appointment of the new hands was to complement the government’s efforts towards equitable delivery of quality services and democratic dividends to the citizens.

Addressing the people at the inauguration of the Governor’s Office, Oyetola charged the new appointees to serve with the fear of God, put in their best with truth, honesty, transparency, incorruptibility and inclusiveness.
