Ondo South Youths Forum (OSYF) has appealed to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to shelve his ambition to contest for the governorship seat in the interest of the Southern Senatorial District .

The group, which urged Aiyedatiwa to back any of the aspirants from the district, stated that his quest to emerge as governor in the forthcoming November governorship election would shortchange the district.

The youths emphasised that Ondo South’s interest was to produce a candidate, who is legally eligible to serve eight years in office instead of settling for just a four-year term.

The group noted that with the ruling of the Supreme Court, Aiyedatiwa was only permitted to be sworn in once more since he already took the oath of office on December 27, 2023, after the demise of his erstwhile boss, late governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

In a statement, its coordinator, Kingsley Omogbehin, urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to do the needful when considering who would fly the flag of the party at the polls.
