Zamadek Boys battle Waxbak Babes for honours at JOF U-13 Tourney

The JOF U-13 Kids Cup Competition final will take place at the Campos Mini Stadium in Ajele, Lagos Island, on June 11, between ZAMADEK Boys from Orile Iganmu Local Council and Waxbak Babes from Mainland Local Council,


The fourth edition of the tournament is organised by JOF Nigeria Limited, in partnership with the Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association.
The organisers have, however, revealed an increase in the prize money over the last edition as the eventual winner will go home with N500,000, N400,000 for first runner-up, N300,000 for second runner-up, and N200,000 for the fourth-placed team.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director, Strategy Support Services of JOF Nigeria Limited, Adeyinka Adetunji, who stood in for the firm’s Chairman, Dr. Olusegun Olugboyegun, thanked the state’s grassroots association for the opportunity to host the youth the football competition.

“We will be presenting trophies and other prizes at the tournament. Remember we are sponsoring this tournament to promote the development of football at the grassroots and to help discover young talents in Lagos State. We believe that through sporting activities, our youth can be positively engaged.

“In addition to the prizes for the teams taking part in the competition, we will also reward some individual players, who distinguish themselves during the tournament. We encourage all to let the spirit of fair play guide all the participants in the forthcoming final on June 11.

While expressing satisfaction with the championship, which begun in 2020, the Lagos State Grassroots Soccer Association Assistant General Secretary, Abubakre Ishola said: “We give kudos to JOF Nigeria Limited for coming out with gallant strides like a stallion among other species of corporate bodies and sponsoring this prestigious event, as part of its social responsibility in a very unique manner every year.
