Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, yesterday, said that his administration is determined to overcome the various challenges that have befallen the people in the state.

According to him, the military and other security agencies have, however, restored peace in the state for economic development and growth.

Zulum, in a state-wide broadcast to the people of Borno State, said: “I extend my appreciation to the Federal Government for its continued support in our fight against Boko Haram insurgency.”

He noted that the troops and other security agencies, including the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have sacrificed their lives in protecting people’s lives and property.

According to him, the military and other security agencies have created a peaceful state for economic development and growth.

Lamenting the escalating market food prices, the governor said: “I’m deeply troubled by the recent hardships faced by our citizens,” stating that the high cost of food items is beyond the reach of many households in the state.

“I understand the burden that this places on families and individuals,” he noted.

He, therefore, assured the people that the state government is taking concrete measures in reducing market prices of essential commodities, particularly, food items and other basic needs of life.

On measures of checking high costs of living, Zulum, said: “Our government is focusing on reviving agriculture in the state, adding that the state government intended to increase food production and reduce reliance on food palliative.

The governor also called on Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, the chief Imam, clerics, and the Christian brothers and the people to observe a one day voluntary fast on Monday, February 19, 2024.

He said the voluntary fast and prayers are for peace, prosperity and development of the state.

Zulum, however, urged the people to remain vigilant and cooperate with the military and other security forces.
