2018 census to cost N222 billion

The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Chief Eze Duruiheoma, says the 2018 national population census is to cost N222 billion.
He said the figure was arrived at after a careful assessment of the imperatives and requirements for the conduct of a truly scientific exercise.
Duruiheoma spoke at the commission’s review workshop of phase 1 and 2 as well as equipping of trainers currently taking place at Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
According to him, “the fund will not be required at once but to be spread over a period of four years.
“We therefore appeal to state and local governments, traditional institution and communities to support the commission in carrying out the 2018 Census EAD by allowing unfettered access to facilities and places to demarcated’’.

What you need is national database not census. Because national database takes care of census, voters card review, bvm, International passport, phone registration, crime control, human resource management and other national identification issues.
Mr Ejiofor Umeano….God and Allah will bless you abundantly. We continue to do the same thing in this country and expect a different result. Just one thing is needed or whatever name we want to call it. This will be updated frequently through hospitals for new born babies, deaths while security units will update their part through a window that will be opened for them. By doing this, we wont be stealing these scary amount from ourselves in the name that we are doing one thing or the other. I just hope the so called Ministry for information technology is even doing their work.Be blessed

Sir thanks so much i am writing my research work trying to oppose waste and false conventional numeration; through registered data. first titled it as National but my project supervisor cancelled it. i just stumbled into this and saw your discussion. It much relief to me.
Age under 18 is taken care of, The NPC should provide terminal site (internet web) for schools, hospital and even religious centres to take in some vital registration.
Data collated should be analyzed for period of time (5 years) and presented to the public
Another fraud in the making, tax payers money will be stolen and they will give us unrealistic figures that does not show the real population figure of area, just for political use, please they should stop the fraud and look for a way to better the lot of the masses. The masses are not interested in that now
The only way of generating a National Database is to conduct a head count. We’ve had several databases from several government agencies in the past few years targeting different segments of our population; INEC from 18 years, FRSC from 18 years and you must pass a driving test, NIMC from 18 years, BVN you have to be an adult with a bank account and so on.
NPC as the custodian of the Nigerian Database was not able to create this in the last census of 2006 as Biometric technology was still budding and the cost exorbitant. So this is the Nigerian chance of getting a reliable, dependable, queryable and robust database and it can only be achieved through a biometric census. This is my candid opinion.
We will review and take appropriate action.
