Rivers gov confirms Oct. 2026 completion date for P’Harcourt Ring Road

Port Harcourt Ring Road project

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has confirmed that the 50.15-kilometre Port Harcourt Ring Road project remains on track for completion by October 2026.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the pace of work by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, commending the construction firm for supporting the state’s infrastructure drive.

The project, which commenced in 2023, is regarded as a flagship initiative of the Fubara administration aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving urban infrastructure in Port Harcourt.

Fubara spoke during an unscheduled inspection visit to the project site, including the Creek Bridge section of the Ring Road.

Addressing journalists at the end of the visit, he said he was impressed by the progress made so far. According to him, work on the five flyovers along the Ring Road is nearing completion, while construction of the Creek Bridge — described as critical to facilitating movement of people and goods across communities—has commenced.

He assured that the bridge would be delivered with the same speed and quality associated with the contractors, adding that the days of residents risking river crossings in canoes and boats would soon be over.

The governor appealed to residents to cooperate with the contractor to ensure the timely and quality delivery of the project.

He further stated that the project, which cuts across five local councils, is receiving sustained funding to meet the deadline.
