Professor Wale Adebanwi of the Institute of African Studies, Oxford University, United Kingdom (UK) will be the guest speaker at the second Ife Summer Institute lecture scheduled for Monday, July 23 to Friday, August 3, 2018.

He will speak on The Social Life of a Scholarly Publication: From Conception to Execution.

The two-week residential programme with the theme: The Knowledge Society and the Challenges of Doing Research in Africa: Theoretical Perspectives and Methodological Approaches, will begin with a keynote address and an opening ceremony at the Ajose Lecture Theatre, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

Convener of the Summer Institute, Professor Jacob Olupona, said the event will facilitate and foster innovative research of young scholars in the academy, particularly those in the humanities and social sciences by exposing them to relevant theoretical and methodical tools in their respective disciplines.

Olupona, who teaches at Harvard University, U.S.A., noted that the summer institute will be anchored by an impressive number of scholars from Nigeria and abroad engaging a wide range of themes and issues designed to deepen the understanding of research and teaching in the academy.

“Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, academics from Nigeria and overseas and about 30 scholars are expected from the U.S., Germany and other African countries, including Nigeria,” he said.
