Al-Makura sacks nine commissioners, two special advisers

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has sacked nine commissioners and two special advisers.

He said the governor embarked on the cabinet reshuffle to allow those with political ambition to have time in pursuing their interests.

He said: “His Excellency, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in a cabinet reshuffle, dropped the commissioners.

“Those dropped are Abdulhamid Yakubu Kwarra, Ministry of Environment and Solid Minerals, Gabriel Ortan Aka’aka, Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development, Mrs. Mary E. Enwongulu, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

Others are Mr. Bamaiyi Anangba, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Dr. Daniel Iya, Ministry of Health, Yusuf Shehu Usman, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Sonny Agassi, Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning.

Also dropped were Mohammed Wada Yahaya, Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport, and Mr. Tanko Abdullahi Zubair, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperative.

The SSG disclosed that six other commissioners were retained but redeployed, while two special advisers were also sacked.

Mohammed said the governor thanked the outgoing commissioners and special advisers for their services to the state and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere, has promised to reactivate the health sector and social welfare scheme, if elected governor.

Madumere made the pledge at the weekend when he inaugurated the Alberta Foundation Secretariat in Owerri, the state capital.

He described the present situation of the key sectors as comatose and requires urgent attention.
