Bayelsa rice farmers woo foreign investors
CITING lack of funding and government’s apparent lukewarm disposition to farming, the Bayelsa State chapter of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RFAN) has sought foreign partners to produce rice in commercial quantity in the state.
The association’s chairman, Ezekiel-Simeon Ogbianko, told The Guardian in Yenagoa that the body had acquired over 40,000 hectares of land for rice farming.
“We want to launch our website very soon, and we need international partners who are professionals in agriculture to come because the amount of land we acquired is enormous”.
