Bello storms filling stations

Agony, pains and frustration are the best words to describe the current fuel scarcity and the recent epileptic power supply in Niger state that have almost crippled both business and commercial activities within Minna, the state capital and its environs.

As at the time of filling this report, only two filling stations, NNPC Mega and one of the Total filing stations that were seen selling the product to the public at control price.

Few independent petroleum filling stations within Minna sold for between N200 and N250 per litre with chaotic queue.

Worried by the frustration, agony, pains and its negative impact on the economic life of the state, the State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, on Thursday stormed some filling stations in Minna the state capital following public allegations of sharp practices by the petroleum products marketers.

He personally conducted checks on the tank of all the stations he visited to ascertain if fuel was not being hoarded by the stations as alleged by the public.

The governor made the surprise inspection to Forte Oil station,two Total filling stations, Mobil and NNPC mega-station all within Minna metropolis where all the stations against were found empty of products.

Moved by the development, the governor put a call across to the Suleja NNPC Depot manager to know the situation of fuel distribution and he was told that four trucks of fuel were allocated to Niger State for Thursday.
