Buhari support group empowers youths with grants in Edo State
About 140 youths comprising young girls trained by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) were at the weekend presented with various starter packs and take-off grants to be self-employed courtesy of the Buhari Support Organization (BSO).
The empowerment programme sponsored by the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire. Performing the presentation of the starter packs to the beneficiaries trained on cosmetology, Ehanire said the programme of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in collaboration with the NDE is aimed at building a better life for Nigerians through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship training and youth empowerment.
Edo State coordinator of NDE, Ayo Edegbai, while appreciating the efforts of the minister, noted that the collaboration between the NDE is to assist in training youths in vocations with a bid to tackling unemployment in the country.
Edegbai said the starter packs and take-off grants disbursed to beneficiaries is targeted at not only making them self-employed but self-reliant. The beneficiaries were provided with resettlement tools, empowerment items and cash sums to boost the skills acquired during training.
