Fayose, Atiku accuse Federal Government of recklessness, failure

• Gov says EFCC, police, INEC, others now APC tools
• Niger lawmaker resigns, alleges hostility

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has said that Nigerians, especially the youths, must rise and save the country from the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of recklessness.The governor, who spoke while addressing some stakeholders from Gbonyin and Ekiti East local councils yesterday, vowed to remain resolute in his defence of the common people of Nigeria against tyranny.

Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, quoted the governor as describing the arrest and detention of a journalist working with Premium Times, Samuel Ogundipe, as continuation of government’s suppression of freedom of information and, of the press.

Fayose said all agencies of the Federal Government, especially the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and all security agencies, had been turned to tools of the APC.

In a similar vein, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the ruling APC of failing the aspirations of Nigerians. Atiku stated this yesterday while on a solicitation visit to the delegates and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State. Atiku, who accused the ruling party of reneging on its election promises, decried the unemployment figures, which he said, had risen to 12 million unemployed young men and women.

He also urged the electorate to return Imo State to PDP from the present APC, saying that it was a PDP state until seven years ago when the political equation changed.
In another development, a member of the APC in Niger State House of Assembly, Danladi Iyah, representing Tafa Constituency, has resigned his membership of the House.In his resignation letter, the lawmaker said his decision was due to hostilities he suffered as a member of the party.

When his letter was brought to the floor for deliberation, the member, representing Borgu Constituency, Bala Ahmed Abba, said the reasons for Iyah’s defection was not in line with the constitution of Nigeria and therefore moved the motion that his seat be declared vacant. Haruna Mohammed seconded the motion. Speaker Ahmed Marafa then declared the seat vacant, directing the Clerk to stop all financial dealings due for the member.
