Gunmen ‘Kill 15’ In Rivers
UNKNOWN gunmen Friday night invaded Omoku Town in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
A source in Omoku said the attackers, armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the homes of perceived opponents.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, said several families were seen packing their belongings and leaving for the state capital.
“It is difficult to ascertain the number of the gunmen, but certainly they were many, going by the sporadic gunshots. Omoku has been a hot spot for gang war in the past two years. In this attack, at least 15 persons were killed,” he said.
Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, however, said six persons were killed in the attack, which he blamed on battle for supremacy between rival gangs.
