Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has issued a strong warning to social media accounts spreading what he described as false and defamatory claims about his professional engagement with a colleague.

The actor stated that he will take legal action against individuals or accounts responsible for damaging his reputation.

In a post shared on his verified X(formerly twitter) handle, Arukwe said a specific account had been identified as spreading “false rumours and baseless accusations” about him. He declined to mention the account directly, explaining that engaging with it would only give it more visibility.

“A specific account has been identified to spread false rumours and baseless accusations about me and my professional engagement with another colleague in the industry,” he wrote. “I choose not to quote the account directly, as I refuse to give such accounts the engagement they seek at the risk of jail time.”

Arukwe added that the individual responsible would be used as a “scapegoat” to deter others from making similar claims. “Believe me when I say this: that individual will be made a scapegoat so others learn to respect boundaries and refrain from chasing clout and Elon Musk money at the expense of damaging someone else’s reputation,” he said.

The statement comes amid speculation surrounding his recent film collaboration with a colleague. While social media users have attempted to link the discussion to off-screen narratives, Arukwe’s warning focused solely on professional defamation and reputation protection. He did not reference any personal or marital matters.

Uzor Arukwe is one of Nollywood’s most prominent actors, known for his versatility and comic roles.

In 2025, Arukwe starred as the lead character in Love in Every Word, a film produced by Omoni Oboli, became the most watched Nollywood productions of 2025.

Arukwe has also featured in Behind the Scenes, currently the highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time. The movie amassed over ₦2 billion at the Nigerian box office.

By making his statement public, Arukwe emphasised the importance of professional boundaries and respect in the entertainment industry.
