The Owerri branch chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Lawrence Nwakaeti, has described the National Industrial Court, Owerri Division, judgment in favour of retirees in the case between them and the Imo State Government, as victory from God.

Retirees in the state have commended the ruling of the court as well. In a statement made available, Nwakaeti, said it was a great favour from God that gave victory to all who participated in the good fight.

A human rights lawyer, Uche Wisdom Durueke, and other lawyers, had petitioned the court against the slashing of pensions and gratuities of retirees in the state by the Imo State Government. He expressed joy that the retirees had gotten victory, stressing that they would remain by the side of the senior citizens at all times.
