In a bid to develop the country through its increased participation in agriculture value chain, Nestlé Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to Ogun state and agriculture through its job creation, capacity building and community development programmes.

Speaking at the Ogun state investors forum held in Abeokuta, which had Feed Nigeria, Feed Africa, Completing the Value Chain, as its theme, Managing Director of Nestle Nigeria, Mauricio Alarcon stated that with these contributions to the state, the company continues to seek opportunities to increase local sourcing of raw materials from the state.

Highlighting the pivotal role that Ogun State plays by hosting two of the company’s three factories in Nigeria and in its business, Alarcon highlighted areas of potential collaboration between government and industry to accelerate development of the agriculture value chain. The forum, in its 4th edition had Nestle Nigeria as the sponsor, which focused on consolidating the gains of the present administration and accelerating growth. The event brought together the government, leaders of industry and other stakeholders to discuss growth opportunities.

In his keynote address, governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun explained that his government has laid a solid foundation for socio-economic development through exploration of various value chains including Agriculture, Industry and Technology. He reiterated his government’s resolve to encourage backward integration and agricultural import substitution.
